FULLNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST PT. 2

Don Leavell Blog, Truth to Live By

For of [from] His fullness we have all received, grace for [upon] grace […] For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him (John 1:16; Colossians 2:9-10a).

It pleases the Lord Jesus to live in the Church, His Body by His Spirit! I want to fully apprehend this reality and revelation! It is rather overwhelming to think that all of the Omnipresent God is in a human body in Christ! I ask, how can the infinite God be fully represented in one location, a human body, and filling that body with all of Himself and from that One, rule everything visible and invisible? It is simply astounding! In addition, this same Jesus, the Word of God, is the focal point of God the Father! That is, God sees everything through Christ! Therefore, it is safe to say that the Father sees everything through His Word! If God sees through the Word, shall we not also see through His Word? Shall we not see each other through the Word? Shall we not see Him who is invisible through the Word? The invisible is made visible through God’s Word! We see here that the Word makes all things manifest. It makes the unseen visible. It makes the intangible tangible. Christ, the Word of God is everything! “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9).  The Apostle Paul tells us that we, the Church, are complete in Him. Since we are complete in Christ, the Word of God, we are also filled-full in Him; we are perfect in Him!

Jesus lives in us! This still, is too wonderful for me, and knowing this truth inspires me to search it out that I might go on to fully know Christ in His fullness, a fullness we have all received! This Truth of God must not evade us. We must press in to apprehend God! The Father has purposed to invest in us, His Son. It is no wonder the Apostle Paul says, “the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints […]Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:26-27). Christ in you is the revealing of God’s unimaginable glory!
